The design phase could be the most critical aspect to the success of an effect or character. Often character design can take time and go through many reiterations before successfully landing on a finished concept that is approved by all parties involved. A successful design is not only creative and new but it also dictates a direction for the artists and fabrication artists during the build process. Having an approved design will also allow all parties to equally evaluate a finished product based on the image or model.
The life cast is probably one of the most critical phases of the process and is the foundation to prosthetic makeups, creature suits or likeness bodies. It is the base to which everything will be built from. It is critical that a life cast is captured correctly for the project to insure proper fitting prosthetics correct expressions for better translating the replica body and correct form for creating body suits.
